Max Payne Review

This is my opinion.

It was terrible. Both as an adaptation and a film.

Adaptation: Nothing was right, besides the bare bones. Yes his wife and kid were killed. Yes drugs were involved. Yes he shot people. Beyond that, the characters were all wrong, the situation was wrong, and the weather was TERRIBLY done. A character references "all the snow", when half the time it's been raining.

- Bullet time was used once. Disappointing.

-There was only one noir-esque soliloquy.

-Valkyr was GREEN, not blue as depicted in the movie.

There's tons of other issues, but I don't want to be too nerdy.

Film-wise, it was pretty bad. Marky-mark didn't exactly put forth a compelling performance, B.B.'s character has no development, he just jumps from one stance to another. Also, taking Mona seriously is very difficult. I kept expecting Hyde to jump out from a dark alley. The ending is quite abrupt and leaves a HUGE cliffhanger.

Here's hoping that we don't see a Max Payne 2.

GUESS WHAT Wii GOT!

Boom Blox has WRECKED my shoulders.

As it is Wii Play is slightly boring, and for Sports: Bowling is hard, Boxing is a cardio workout in itself, and for Baseball both Ace and Scarecrow have continually performed well.

(For the camera to pick up the lines on this I had to darken them all, leading to more imperfections in the art. I'm really not happy with this situation, I just don't have the money for a tablet right now D:)

A friend of mine is doing a random survey and asked a bunch of us to explain who five males are that deserve the title of Man, and why.

My list went:

Cincinnatus (Sp?)

Roman Emperor and General. He is (I think) the only recorded person to assume the mantel of dictator and Supreme Commander of the Roman army in order to fight off an invasion and defeat an enemy and to also give it up willingly. After the war he retired to his farm where he lived out his life. He displayed both the strength and the judgement needed in a man.

Ieyasu Tokugawa

Japanese Samurai and General who was instrumental in creating the Tokugawa Shogunate and centralizing the unstable Japanese feudal daimyo. Though his methods were sometimes brutal, such as taking hostages to keep dangerous lords in check, he showed the perseverance to see his vision to an end, while not overstepping his bounds.

FDR

U.S. President who presided over the country for four terms. Brought America through the Great Depression and most of WWII. He overcame his disabilities (polio) and used his intelligence to keep a nation together.

Martin Luther King Jr

Kept to his values in the face of SEVERE adversity and never broke from those morals. Though he took abuse from all sides he never strayed from non-violence. He knew how to achieve his goals and achieved them.

Rick Astley

Cause simply put, he's never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you.

This is a place for me to post sketches, comics, and to talk about random things.

I have five comics done, some better than others, and some I've re-done in better ways, and I'll link/post them here. They tend to be continuous, so it's a good idea to start from the beginning.

They're tentatively called Random Observations- Life. However, I'll probably be thinking up a new name.

Comic 3 - Too Much Information (Good rule of thumb is that if you have to number the panels for people to follow them, then you've failed. Learn from your mistakes.)

Comic 5 - Retaliation (My neighbor didn't appreciate comic four, so he spammed my friends with various unsavory links from my screen name. So I retaliated. This one taught me to use recognizable backgrounds.)

The above comics are all previously done. Since my scanner/printer seems to only be a printer, I'm unfortunately using a point-and-click digital camera to put images on my computer. This leads to my sketches coming out very faint :(.

This is one of the main male characters. He is called Scarecrow by his friends, and is outgoing and generally a good guy. He's more easygoing than Ace is, and tends to make friends easier. He is a full time student and doesn't currently have a job.

This is Ace. He's a bit more intense than Scarecrow, and has more difficulty making friends due to his caustic nature. Whereas Scarecrows sarcasm and wit are light-hearted and joking, Ace tends to destroy other peoples feelings, without meaning to. He smokes quite often and like Scarecrow is a student. He is also a Basic level Emergency Medical Technician in training.
